Last week, thousands of secondary school students across the country concluded their West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), marking the end of an important phase in their academic journey.
As expected, many students celebrated the completion of their examinations. However, the nature of some of these celebrations has raised concerns among parents, educators, and members of the public.
In recent years, βsign-outβ activities have evolved beyond simple farewell gatherings. Many graduating students now wear white vests and shirts covered with signatures and messages written with markers. While this may appear harmless, some celebrations have reportedly degenerated into inappropriate displays, including indecent conduct and activities that do not reflect the values expected of young people.
