The video game industry is in mourning as we bid farewell to Game Informer, a magazine that shaped our love for gaming for 33 years. Following GameStop’s sudden announcement of its closure and the disappearance of all online content, the outpouring of tributes from developers, companies, and former staff is heartfelt.

Neil Druckmann of Naughty Dog expressed, "As someone who grew up poring over each issue, it was such a thrill and an honor to see our games grace Game Informer. Sad that such a staple of our industry is now gone. Good luck to everyone involved. Your work will be missed."

The official Konami account on X reminisced about eagerly awaiting each new issue, while CD Projekt Red’s Michał Nowakowski and Radek Grabowski highlighted the magazine's role in immortalizing the visual designs of games like Borderlands and Fortnite.

Former staffers shared their grief, with Alex Van Aden calling it a dream job, and Kyle Hilliard lamenting the loss of a nearly complete issue. Andy McNamara, a former editor-in-chief, poignantly said, "It breaks my heart to see it end."

The shutdown message itself has faced scrutiny, with some noting its resemblance to a ChatGPT-generated message. GameStop has yet to comment.

Game Informer’s legacy lives on in the hearts of gamers and the countless memories it created. Thank you for the years of amazing coverage and friendship.
