Elon Musk is back in court, filing a new lawsuit against OpenAI and its founders, Sam Altman and Greg Brockman. This fresh legal battle reignites Musk's claims that OpenAI strayed from its mission to advance AI for the benefit of humanity.
Filed in federal court in Northern California, Musk's lawsuit accuses Altman and Brockman of duping him into co-founding OpenAI by promising a safer, more transparent approach to AI. The suit alleges these assurances were a "hook" for a long con, intended to mislead Musk about the company's direction.
This lawsuit, described as “much more forceful” by Musk’s lawyer, Marc Toberoff, also alleges that OpenAI's partnership with Microsoft violates federal racketeering laws and could grant Microsoft undue rights over OpenAI’s technology once AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) is reached.
