CrowdStrike is pushing back against Delta Air Lines’ claims that the cybersecurity firm is responsible for the airline's recent major system outage. According to CrowdStrike, Delta rejected multiple offers for on-site assistance during the crisis.
Delta CEO Ed Bastian has claimed the outage, which led to over 6,000 grounded flights and $500 million in losses, is grounds for legal action against both CrowdStrike and Microsoft. The airline is facing scrutiny from the US Department of Transportation for its handling of the disruption.
CrowdStrike denies any gross negligence, arguing that the airline’s delay in recovery was due to its own IT decisions and not their support. In a recent letter, CrowdStrike’s lawyer stated that the company offered immediate help, which Delta declined. They criticize Delta for creating a “misleading narrative” about the situation.
“CrowdStrike’s CEO personally reached out to offer support but received no response,” said Michael Carlinsky, CrowdStrike’s lawyer. The company asserts that it will defend itself vigorously if Delta moves forward with litigation.
