In a recent move, the Turkish government has restricted access to the popular online gaming platform, Roblox. This decision follows an official investigation that uncovered content on the platform which could potentially exploit children. Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç emphasized the government's responsibility to protect children, citing the country's Constitution in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter).

The future of Roblox in Turkey remains uncertain. In a statement on their website, Roblox acknowledged the block, expressing their commitment to resolving the issue. The company highlighted the importance of the platform to millions of Turkish users, including a thriving community of developers who depend on Roblox for their businesses. They stressed their ongoing efforts to ensure the safety of their community and their alignment with global policymakers on child protection.

Roblox spokesperson Eric Porterfield further reinforced the company’s respect for local laws and their dedication to working with Turkish authorities to restore access as quickly as possible.

This ban on Roblox comes shortly after Turkey blocked access to Instagram, although no official reason was provided for that action. Earlier this year, Meta also suspended access to its Threads app in Turkey following a regulatory ruling. Notably, Turkey had previously imposed a ban on Wikipedia, which was only lifted in 2020 after more than two years.
