Sony's PlayStation VR2 is an impressive virtual reality headset, with image quality that surpasses even the latest models, like the Meta Quest 3. However, when it comes to expanding its usability with a PC adapter, the experience leaves much to be desired.

The idea of using the PSVR2 on a PC, especially to play critically acclaimed VR games like *Half-Life: Alyx*, is enticing. Unfortunately, the reality of the situation is far from smooth. The adapter itself is a small device that connects to your gaming PC using a USB-A and DisplayPort, but the setup process and subsequent performance issues have proven frustrating.

One of the most significant issues is with the controllers. Unlike the headset, which connects relatively easily, the controllers need to be connected via Bluetooth, a task that’s more complicated than it should be. My attempts to get the controllers working correctly were met with various problems, from pairing difficulties to frequent disconnections, making gameplay virtually unplayable at times.

The lack of support for key features like HDR, eye tracking, and adaptive triggers on the PC version also detracts from the experience. While the passthrough video feature works, allowing you to see your surroundings with a tap of a button, the overall limitations and technical issues overshadow any positives.

After spending several hours troubleshooting these problems without success, it’s clear that Sony’s PC adapter isn’t ready for prime time. Despite the potential, the experience is marred by frequent glitches and unreliable performance. Until Sony addresses these issues, I can’t recommend the PSVR2 PC adapter to others.
