Rimac, the innovative company behind the record-breaking Nevera electric vehicle (EV), has just raised the bar with the release of the Nevera R. This updated version is now even quicker, reportedly accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in a blistering 1.74 seconds—a noticeable improvement over its predecessor.

The Nevera R boasts an impressive 2,107 horsepower, which is nearly 200 horsepower more than the original model. Enhancements include improved aerodynamics, increased downforce, and better grip. These upgrades have allowed the Nevera R to shave 3.8 seconds off its lap time on the Nardo Ring, a high-speed track in Italy.

Similar to the standard Nevera, the R model's full potential can only be unlocked with special “manufacturer oversight,” allowing it to reach a staggering top speed of 256 mph. Without this, the top speed is capped at 217 mph. According to MotorTrend, Rimac estimates a range of around 250 miles on a full charge, though official certification under the European WLTP cycle is still pending.

Despite its astonishing capabilities, the Nevera R will remain an exclusive model, with only 40 units planned for production. Each will carry a hefty price tag of $2.5 million. Given its rarity, most people will likely see one of Rimac’s future Croatian robotaxis before ever spotting this supercar on the road.

In addition to the Nevera R, Rimac has been making waves in the EV world with its acquisition of a majority stake in Bugatti and plans to push the boundaries of electric supercars even further.

For those in the market for this high-performance EV, the Nevera R is a rare and costly gem that combines cutting-edge technology with breathtaking speed.
