Turtle Beach has introduced the latest version of its wireless gaming headset, the Stealth 700 Gen 3, featuring dual USB transmitters designed to effortlessly switch between different gaming platforms, including consoles, PCs, and the Steam Deck. Priced at $199.99, this updated model will officially launch on September 22, with preorders already available.
While this isn’t the first headset to offer one-button switching, the Stealth 700 takes a more straightforward approach compared to pricier alternatives like Logitech’s Astro A50 X, which integrates an HDMI passthrough into its charging dock. The Stealth 700 skips such complexities but still boasts impressive features, including larger 60mm drivers, Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity for phone and Discord integration, spatial audio, noise-canceling microphone (enhanced with AI technology), and an impressive 80-hour battery life.
The PC-specific version of this headset stands out by offering superior audio quality, with 24-bit / 96kHz sound and a 16-bit / 32kHz mic. Meanwhile, the current generation of consoles is limited to lower bit rates for both audio and microphone use.
All three versions of the Stealth 700 Gen 3 will be available in black, with additional color options like cobalt for the Xbox variant and white for the PlayStation model. However, there are some quirks in cross-compatibility: the Xbox version works across PlayStation and PC, while the PlayStation and PC models are not compatible with Xbox.
Despite these compatibility nuances, the Stealth 700 Gen 3 offers a practical solution for gamers seeking a versatile headset across multiple platforms, eliminating the need to swap USB receivers or constantly re-pair Bluetooth connections. Compared to other models that serve as centralized hubs, this headset offers more flexibility, particularly for gamers with setups in different rooms.
