Google has launched a new desktop app called Essentials, aimed at enhancing the user experience on Windows laptops by integrating popular Google services. This app comes preinstalled on select new HP laptops, marking Google's latest effort to extend its ecosystem into the Windows platform.
The Essentials app bundles a variety of Google services like Google Messages and Google Photos and offers quick access to more, including Google Sheets, Google Drive, and Nearby Share. Users can browse photos and send messages within the app, making it easier to stay connected across Google’s ecosystem. Additionally, Google is offering a two-month free trial of Google One for first-time subscribers through this app.
HP laptops, such as the Envy, Pavilion, and Omen models, will be the first to feature Google Essentials. Google emphasizes user control, allowing users to uninstall specific features or even the entire app if they choose.
Essentials also includes Google Play Games, enabling users to play popular Android games like Clash of Clans on their PCs. Game progress can be synced between computers and Android devices, offering a seamless gaming experience across platforms.
While the app is initially exclusive to new HP devices, Google plans to expand its availability to other Windows PCs in the near future.
