Honor has made waves with the release of its foldable phone, the Magic V3. After its initial launch in China, the phone is making its way to markets in Europe, but unfortunately, it won’t be sold in the US. One of the standout features of the Magic V3 is its impressively slim design, especially in a category where foldable phones tend to be bulky.

When folded, the Magic V3 measures just 9.2mm thick, making it only slightly thicker than traditional phones like the Galaxy S24 Ultra (8.6mm) and the iPhone 15 Pro (8.3mm). For comparison, it’s much thinner than other foldables such as the Galaxy Z Fold 6, which is 12.1mm thick when folded, and it even beats Google’s Pixel 9 Pro Fold at 10.5mm.

Aside from its sleek design, the Magic V3 boasts a 6.43-inch outer screen and a large 7.92-inch inner screen. It’s powered by a hefty 5,150mAh battery that supports fast charging up to 66W wired and 50W wirelessly. Camera-wise, the phone is equipped with a 50-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel telephoto lens, and a 40-megapixel ultrawide lens, providing high-end performance expected in today’s premium Android phones.

Despite its strong feature set, the Magic V3 will be priced at £1,699 in the UK. Though US consumers won’t have the chance to purchase it, the market for foldable phones is heating up. Competitors like the Pixel 9 Pro Fold are improving, and OnePlus has introduced its Open foldable with a unique red design. With these developments, it remains to be seen how Samsung will respond, as they’ve largely dominated the foldable phone space until now.

For those hoping for more options in the US foldable market, there’s a glimmer of hope that increased competition could push innovation forward.
