Huawei has unveiled its Mate XT Ultimate Design, a groundbreaking tri-fold phone that comes with a hefty price tag. This innovative device, which is the world’s first dual-hinged, triple-screen foldable phone, starts at 19,999 yuan (approximately $2,809) for the 256GB model. That’s about $300 more than a new 16-inch MacBook Pro.
The Mate XT Ultimate Design boasts 16GB of RAM across all versions. It offers additional storage options: 21,999 yuan (around $3,089) for 512GB and 23,999 yuan (about $3,370) for 1TB. Prior to its official pricing, Vmall reported 3.7 million preorders, highlighting significant interest.
This phone features a unique “Z” shaped dual-hinge design, allowing it to be used in various formats. The OLED display measures 6.4 inches when folded into a single-screen mode. When fully unfolded, it expands to 10.2 inches (2,232 x 3,184), and can also be used in a partially open 7.9-inch configuration.
The Mate XT is powered by a 5,600mAh battery, supports 66W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. Its camera setup includes a 50-megapixel main sensor, a 12-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a 12-megapixel periscope camera. For selfies, there’s an 8-megapixel front camera located on the leftmost screen when the device is fully unfolded.
We’ve inquired about the possibility of the Mate XT being available outside China, but as of now, there’s no information on its international release.
