A significant event took a centre stage in Africa, Nigeria, to be precised. Africa Continental Free Trade Agreement, AfCFTA Hackathon 2025 organized by Nigeria Chapter of AfCFTA is the first of its kind, bringing together young innovators to address challenges in Africa's digital trade ecosystem, particularly within the context of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) protocol. 


 The hackathon, held as part of the Science of Trade (SOT) Conference 2025 in Lagos, is designed to encourage innovation and collaboration in areas like e-commerce, digital payments, logistics, and digital identity. 

 Olusegun Olutayo, a senior trade expert at the Nigerian AfCFTA Coordination Office, who also represented Dr. Olusegun Awolowo, Head of AfCFTA Nigeria Chapter, said the hackathon aimed to spark homegrown solutions to real trade challenges and bridge the digital divide affecting millions of African traders and SMEs.

 Participants from across Nigeria and some African countries, including Ghana, Algeria, Kenya attended the event. The event was supported by Ascend Studios Foundation, Amazon Web Services, GFA Technologies, and the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).


 The 3-day event held in Lagos prizes to the best tech solutions to AfCFTA. The overall winner, Team ExportPlug won N20million, first runnerup won N10million and second runnerup also got great deals from the events sponsors.
