WeRide, a pioneer in self-driving technology, is rapidly expanding its global footprint as AI continues to revolutionize the transportation industry. The company’s AI-driven solutions, including robotaxis, minibuses, freight vehicles, and sanitation vehicles, are transforming logistics delivery and waste transport.

“Logistics delivery and waste transport — these two areas have been moving forward, from indoor robotics to outdoor robotics to autonomous outdoors. Things are moving relatively fast because of the development of AI right now,” said Sebastian Yee, Singapore director of business development at WeRide.

In recent developments, WeRide began safety testing its “Robosweepers” in Singapore and launched an autonomous shuttle bus service at Resorts World Sentosa. The company’s innovative vehicles are designed to perform a range of tasks, including road sweeping, water spraying, and disinfection, all while detecting road conditions and avoiding obstacles.

Founded in Silicon Valley in 2017, WeRide has achieved significant milestones, including the launch of a robotaxi service in Guangzhou, China, and receiving strategic investments from major automakers like Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi and GAC Group. WeRide holds driverless permits in the U.S., China, UAE, and Singapore, underscoring its global reach.

Looking ahead, WeRide plans to expand into Japan and Europe, further establishing itself as a leader in the autonomous vehicle sector. Recently, WeRide filed for an IPO on the Nasdaq, marking a significant step in its journey towards global expansion.
